I was very confused playing through this and thinking that it didn't align with my memory at all. I didn't realize this was a remake/cover version. It lacks the strange rhythm of the original game's text, turning it into a kind of kitchen magnet poetry. And the ending is much more anticlimatic than the original game. Still, it got me to replay the old Covetous, which made me happy that such a perfect, funny little objet d'art existed at all.

Well, I'm happy that you got to replay the original! That game is a piece of history and I liked it enough to remake it.

Thank you for playing my game. I know it's not particularly well thought out (it was my first real project following moving outside of coding websites.)

If you're interested (and truly, no pressure)  in a better game try out Cibus Arcade I made for a game jam or my full-length game Shadows and Sickles.

Thank you for your comment, I'm happy you found out, even if out of confusion lol

Right, so my main complaint with this remake is that I'm pretty sure it removes what I personally think was one of the coolest bits of the original, which was the second ending. The ability to realize what you were doing was wrong, even in such an enraged state. with that being said this really shouldn't be titled a "remake" imo since its more-so a re imagining, your own take on the ideas presented in the original. Which isn't a bad thing mind you, it's just more accurate to what I feel this is at its core.

I understand. I thought remake communicated the idea of something different from than the original but I guess re-imagining would be a better description.

As for the second ending, I was never that big a fan of it so I thought if I was throwing my whole idea on a covetous game I'd just do something different.

I appreciate the fact that you played it! Thank you for your feedback!

thank you for replying, I didn't really communicate this properly but I did infact enjoy your take on Covetous, I'm currently playing Shadows and Sickles to get a taste of your other works, so I'll leave my thoughts on that too. Keep up the good work.

That means more than you can imagine, thank you so so much! I've been in a bit of a down turn game-dev wise recently but I'm hoping to get something out soon!

It's alright. Lacks the horror of the original, though. I found the controls to be pretty clunky, and the collision detection was annoying.

I might remaster this to be less annoying. Thanks for the comment though! I've improved a lot since then so I really appreciate you looking at this.
